Today is a mild December day full of sunshine and warm temperatures, but in the upcoming weeks, we will not be so fortunate. Winter is coming and with it will be the cold air that drives us all to stay in the house. Many times this is when people begin getting colds and sniffles and much of that has to do with our indoor air quality.
It's not something we think about a lot, but our indoor air quality affects our health quite a bit. Being cooped up and breathing the same air every day takes a toll. There are many ways to clean your air but we will be talking about one way in particular, one very stylish way and it's all natural!
Having Himalayan Salt lamps in your home is one of the best ways to improve air quality. Not only that, but we have so many beautiful lamps, they have an added benefit of looking beautiful. When buying salt lamps to filter your air, you must be careful though. We have had many people tell us that they can't tell their lamp makes a difference and then we find out that lamp was cheaply bought and is poor quality. How do Salt Lamps clean the air?
That is a very good question and one we get ALOT at the Salt Oasis. It's simply because salt natural attracts moisture and with that moisture it is attracting dust, dirt, dander, pollen, smoke, etc, that is in your air. All the water and impurities get trapped in the salt and because of the light the water is able to evaporate back out into the air. However, salt is naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial so when the impurities get trapped, the salt simply dissolves them. Thus, your lamp is filtering the air all the time.
Because this is a natural process, most people can tell a difference in their air quality within two weeks of having their lamp lit. It is important to note that the bigger (heavier) the lamp, the more square footage of a room it will filter. Here is an accurate chart we like to show people.
